If we consider that as men of science there is the possibility that man has a soul then we must also accept that there is also redemption

Installing Wordpress, PHP and MySQL on Windows 2003 with IIS

by magia3e on Aug.21, 2009, under Web

Installing Wordpress might seem like a simple enough task, but if you’ve got a Windows 2003/IIS environment the task is quite difficult. This is made all the more complex given the wide range of tutorials on the internet that explain part of the solution, but not all of it.

After some weeks tweaking various versions of PHP and MySQL I finally found a tutorial that worked over on the IIS Admin Blog. The tutorial leads you through both the installation of PHP 5 and MySQL 5 and then through the Wordpress installation that will work even with 2.8.4.

The result is, well, a fully functional Wordpress installation. This website is proof of that success.

I’ve owned my namesake domain for a few years now and have made a few attempts to put up a personal website — this, of course, being the latest iteration. I don’t know what this website will turn into, so I guess we’ll both have to wait and see what happens.
